You can probably tell what this is going to be about based on the two verses I quoted above. I'm reading a book called "First Light" by Bodie and Brock Thoene right now, and this is one point that the book brought out that I never caught before. I was always told that God asking Abraham to sacrifice his only son was a picture of God the Father sending his only son Jesus Christ to die for us, but I never noticed this small detail in the story. Just as Jesus had to bear his cross to Calvary...Isaac bore the load of the wood as he made the journey to Mt. Moriah. Such a small little detail...isn't that interesting?
Sorry I don't have more to write about...I just found that fact interesting, and thought I would share it with you all. Hopefully I'll be on again soon with something more to write.

I'd like to share another thought or two. To follow the parallel through Abraham would represent YHWH. Isiah says that YHWH LAID on Him [Yeshua], the iniquity of us all. The wood represents mans fallen nature; there is a verse from Paul which talks about wood hay and stubble being burnt up in the time of testing. (let me look that up)..."Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is." 1Cor.3:12,13. Wood is a combustible material and when put to the test of fire it does not endure. Likewise when Yahshua took our sins upon Him and the fires of YHWH'S justice and wrath (against sin) fell upon Him; the dross of our wicked deeds was consumed; but the purity of Yahshua's righteous life endured. When He was resurrected on the third day His righteous Life was fully intact and came from the grave with Him. This Life He now offers to all as a free gift.
